Maurice Ravel finished In 1905 his piano cycle 'Miroirs' of which some parts are orchestrated by the composer himself. Especially the fourth part, 'Alborada del gracioso', created in 1919 in Paris for the Orchestre Pasdeloup enjoyed great acclaim. The title literally means 'Morning Song of the Jester' and the clown in question is the comic character of the Spanish comedy, invented by Calderon and Lope de Vega. No wonder 'Alborada del gracioso' a dazzling orchestral work has become full of vivid orchestral colors.
