The Danse Bohemienne from La jolie fille the Perth was used in the ballet for the Paris version for Carmen returning to the Paris opera only five years after it's disastrous premiere. Bizet had died and his friend Ernest Guiraud made some revisions that led to a successful reprise. The four-act ballet is only infrequently performed and contents beside the Danse Bohemienne music from the incidental music to Daudet's play L'Arlesienne (Farandolle). The Danse Bohemienne starts with an elegant flute-solo and ends in a dazzling full-orchestra presto.
