Along with the opera’s ‘Andrea Chénier’ and ‘Siberia’, ‘Fedora’ is one of the most notable works of Italian composer Umberto Giordano. ‘Fedora’ is an opera in three acts to an Italian libretto by Arturo Colautti, based on the 1882 play ‘Fédora’ by Victorien Sardou. The wonderful ‘Intermezzo’ from the 2nd act became well known in itself and is recorded many times. This Intermezzo is now transcribed for Symphonic Band by Dutch arranger Roger Niese.
