Forty six years after having composed his first 'Fest Marsch' op. 49, Johann Strauss, wrote a second work with this title, 'Fest Marsch' op. 452. This march was one of the two musical tributes on the occasion of the marriage between Prince Ferdinand of Bulgaria and Princess Maria Luisa of Bourbon-Parma. The Fest Marsch was performed in its orchestral version, together with the 'Hochzeitsreigen Waltz', at a concert by Eduard Strauss in November 1893 in the 'Musikverein' in Vienna.
