The 'Funeral March of a Marionette' (Marche funèbre d'une marionnette) is a short piece by Charles Gounod. It was written in 1872 for solo piano and orchestrated by the composer in 1879. The 'Funeral March of a Marionette' became very popular in all kind of transcriptions and arrangement but is perhaps best known as the theme music for the television program 'Alfred Hitchcock Presents'. Dutch arranger Jos van de Braak transcribed the march for a Symphonic Band respecting the original of Gounod's orchestration.
