Tomás Bretón (1850-1923) was a Spanish conductor and composer. He completed his musical studies at the 'School of Fine Arts' in his hometown, where he earned his living playing in small provincial orchestras, theaters and churches. In 1895 Tomás Bretón's opera 'La Dolores' premiered at the 'Teatro de la Zarzuela' in Madrid. The libretto is also written by Tomás Bretón and based on the play of his friend Feliú y Codina.
