MINI-SCORE
One of the most unknown compositions written by Richard Strauss is entitled ‘Hymne zur Eröffnung der Münchner Kunstausstellung 1897’. The original features a cast of four-part women's choir, wind choir and large symphony orchestra. The text that begins with the words ‘Licht, du ewiglich Eines‘ is by Friedrich Schiller. This work was premiered on June 1, 1897 in the Glass Palace in Munich under the direction of the composer.
Unfortunately, the original score was never published and is still in private hands today. The Italian arranger Gottfried Veit now had this score at his disposal and used it for a transcription of this ‘Hymne’ for Brass Ensemble which was premiered by the Great Bolzano Brass Ensemble.
