'Parsifal' is an opera in three acts by German composer Richard Wagner. It is loosely based on 'Parzival' by Wolfram von Eschenbach, a 13th-century epic poem of the Arthurian knight Parzival (Percival) and his quest for the Holy Grail (12th century).
The story of 'Parsifal' is situated around Easter and the instrumental part in the opera at the end of the 3rd act became later well known by the name 'Karfreitagszauber' (Good Friday magic). Nowadays, this 'Karfreitagszauber' is sometimes played at its own at concerts and now transcribed for Symphonic Band by Dutch arranger Jos Dobbelstein.
