For the Künstlerball (Artists' Ball) in the Sophiensaal in Vienna in 1858 Johann Strauss arranged a quadrille with melodies of various composers as a mirror of the running concert season 1857/58.
In fact, this 'Künstler Quadrille' sums up the earworms of the time. Amongst these melodies are the 'Wedding March' by Felix Mendelssohn, theme from the 1st movement of the 'Symphony No. 40' by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, music from 'Oberon' by Carl Maria von Weber, trio of Chopin's 'Funeral March', Rondo 'La Campanella' by Paganini, music from 'Die Zauberflöte' by Mozart and Beethoven's 'Marcia alla Turca'.
