'La Traviata' tells the story of the young and beautiful courtesan Violetta who falls in love with Alfredo, an ordinary and poor young man. The aria 'Sempre libera' is the very end of the first act: Violetta decides that she wants to continue her free and luxurious life. Alfredo (outside her window) sings 'Amor è palpito dell' universo intero': 'Love is the pulse of the whole world'.
