Gabrieli's "Pian e Forte" probably is entitled to this name due to it being the first work ever that has certain dynamic levels for quiet and loud. This work was composed in 1597 as a two-chours instrumental section (Primus Chorus and Secundus Chorus) and is part of the collection "Sacrae Symphoniae". In addition it is also apart of the polyphonic vocal and instrumental passages. (Edition Symphonic Works)
