MINI-SCORE
Saint-Saëns composed his 3rd Symphony in 1885 and 1886, almost 27 years after its predecessor, the 2nd Symphony. Saint-Saëns dedicated his 3rd Symphony to the Hungarian composer Franz Liszt. Although the whole work is divided into two parts, it still maintains the four movement scheme of a 19th century symphony. This symphony is one of the most popular of this genre alongside other works by Saint-Saëns. As the title might suggest, it is not that the organ has a solo role, rather it is another component of the otherwise very colorful instrumentation. There is no doubt that the use of the symphony organ, especially the final an even bigger dimension! (Edition Symphonic Works)
