In the 4th Symphony I tried to compress the musical material even more than in the symphonies Nos. 1-3. It so happens that all four movements of the symphony are composed coherently and without interruption. One can consider the entire symphony as a giant sonata form, in which the third set plays the role of implementation. The main focus is again for some key themes, as for the 2nd Symphony at the beginning. The Choral Ostinato is at the very beginning and soon enters the main stream theme in the basses, whereas, the Ostinato, in equal quarters, represents the main theme the eternity of life for the heroic endurance which stands for destiny. Also the beginning of the fourth part in the cycle of symphonies contacts the existence of life apart. I have dedicated this symphony to Mr. Ernst Ita, President of the Urban Harmony Zurich Oerlikon, Seebach. (Edition Symphonic Works)
